Learn to Blog

About our blog

If you are unfamiliar with blogs they are basically online journals. They allow students to practice their skills in typing, ICT, online interactions and literacy through blogging.
This page will update each week with a short blogging tip - to help you and your children learn to blog effectively. Inspiration for these tips has come from Mrs Morris' Classroom Blog (thanks!)

4J's Tips for Successful Blogging

Lesson 1: Blog Jargon
The first thing to learn about blogging is some of the language used in the online blogging community. This will help you to understand this new online world.

Blog: Short for 'weblog' a blog is an online journal that is regularly updated. It is made up of posts and pages. Our blogs pages are on the bar at the top of our blog and you can click on these. Each new post that appears will move to the top of the blog. Readers can comment on blog posts and pages.

Post: These are found on the home page. Some posts contain videos, photos, images and links to other sites. We love comments - students and family are encouraged to comment on our posts.

Comments: Comments will always be read and appreciated. They allow our blog to be meaningful and interactive. Blog administrations (Miss Jones for our 4J blog) moderate comments.

Subscribe: This purely means to sign up to our blog. If you do so you will receive an email each time we post on our blog. This saves you the hassle of checking back to see if anything new has been posted. You can subscribe to the 4J blog on the right hand side of our home page.
